Should they express their opinions they are branded anti nationals.  The so-called party functionaries, directed by their fundamentalists’ core cadre wage a war of verbosity.   

These elements forget that these artist community is as Indian nationals as they are.  This decade saw such verboseness vividly causing immense inconvenience and insecurity. Indian masses have rejoiced on his acting faculties and admired his societal roles and national building permutations. He was bombarded for show-causing these movements. Aamir Khan expressed his feelings about rising intolerance in India and on violent attacks against Muslims and intellectuals. The co-founder and editor Alt News, a fact-checking website,  was arrested for having  tweeted a meme four years ago.  He was called to New Delhi from Bangalore.  A police report was thrust on him on the pretext of a complaint by an anonymous Twitter account that he had hurt Hindu sentiments. The Police told him that he was being arrested for not cooperating with the investigation. About a hundred policemen surrounded him when he was presented before a magistrate. 

He was released on bail by the Supreme Court of India after a three-week long stay in jail. He had been doing a yeoman service in uncovering the fake news about Indian Muslims and the India’s general public.  The Indian government does not tolerate the unmasking of the fake news lest the public should discover their agenda.

Sidheeq Kappan

He was arrested on October, 2020, on his way to Hathras to report on the story of a 19-year-old Dalit woman who died after being allegedly gang-raped by four men. He was a Kerala journalist who was charged under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

The First Information Report submitted against him in Mathura court charged him with Section 124A (sedition), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, etc) and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Information Technology Act. On February 2023, Kappan was released from prison after more than two years. On December 2022, the Allahabad High Court granted him bail.

However, it took over a month to secure his release due to procedural delays. After walking out of the prison, Kappan stated that he would continue to fight the charges against him. His crime was that he was to report an atrocity of a worst kind on a woman.

Dr. Kafeel Ahmad

A Paediatrician, BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh where 60 children died due to lack of oxygen.  He was suspended for raising the issue with the press. He remained so for more than four years.

Shah Faisal

He was the topper in the Indian Administrative Services examination in 2010. He resigned from the government services, citing marginalization and disappearance of around millions of Indian Muslims at the hands of Hindutva bigots. He voiced his views against the unabated killings in Kashmir, lack of sincere reach-out; reducing the Muslims to second-class citizens, growing cultural intolerance and hate in the mainland India in the name of hyper nationalism.

Arnaz Banu

She stood first in Class X with a score of 87%, in Shri K. T. Patel Smriti Vidyalaya, a school located in Luna Wala village of Mehsana district, Gujarat. In a function organised by her school to honour Class 10 and Class 12 on Independence Day, she was not honoured, instead, another student who stood second, was honoured, a deliberate discrimination based on religion. The incident sparked a wave of discontent among activists and citizens on various social media platforms.

These incidents are only a tip in the ice berg. The government under the leadership of Narendra Modi has deliberately used cudgels to subdue the minorities in an effort to display the power of majoritarianism, which has no place in the Constitution of India on the basis of which   Narendra Modi has been able occupy the seat of the Prime Minister of India.
